What’s There to See at The Museum?
Upon entering the museum, located just 5 minutes from the iconic Place Bellecour, you’ll begin a fascinating interactive tour through its historic 19th-century underground cellars. As you descend the spiral staircase, you’ll enter a 120-square-metre vaulted space where the past and technology come together to tell you the story behind every bottle.
During the self-guided tour, which you’ll take at your own pace, you’ll enjoy the following highlights:
- You’ll be able to touch the actual rocks that shape the roots of the vines and awaken your sense of smell in the museum’s aroma library. This will help you learn to identify the different nuances of wine.
- You’ll discover the current environmental challenges facing grape growing and gain insight into the work of winegrowers through reports and interviews with industry experts.
- To round off the experience in style, you’ll put your palate to the test by serving yourselves from automatic dispensers. You’ll sample eight varieties, including orange wine, natural wine and renowned Beaujolais crus. Of course, you’ll be able to access digital information about each wine, and the winery staff will be on hand if you need any help!
After a tour lasting approximately 1 hour, the visit will end in the boutique area, the ideal place to take home your favourite wine as a souvenir of this wine-tasting experience in Lyon.
